I don't generally pay too much attention to stills of roads or nature unless the shot has something extraordinary. However, I was taken back by this photograph and decided to have a closer look.
Vision: I've seen too many shots of winding roads to really find too much interesting in them. However, taking a cliche and turning it on its head is one of the hallmarks of good artists. While I can't speak for the artist's thought process, I hope she was thinking the latter.
Originality: A black and white photograph is one thing. A monochromatic photo where a single color fills the entire picture is something I've not really seen before. It took a moment for me to get used to the idea, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.
Technique: It's difficult to take an old idea and make it unique. However, the lighting and composition in this shot are really quite beautiful. Darkness on the edges, light at the vanishing point... Also, the trees have some unique shapes, and I give the artist credit for finding this particular spot with the train tracks and the freshly fallen leaves.
Impact: Many things are more than the sum of their parts. While the subject itself is not exceptional, the final composition, color, lighting, and effect are amazing. Overall, this is a highly effective piece, one that is both powerful and serene.
I really think it's lovely, I really like the colors of it! The leaves on the ground 'n over the rails, like nature together with industry..Instant favorite. Great Job! ^^
